In the year 1986 at age 18, Sverrir got interested in designing fashion. Previously he had mainly been doing graphics design, cartoons stories, illustrated stories for TV and illustrations.

1986: Idea for a dance group

The very first attempt at designing clothes was when Sverrir worked as a club instructor at his home town’s youth center in the spring of 1986 (or 1985), when Sverrir was 18 years old. The club he was managing was for 14-15 year old students and was about visual art and advertising design. A dance group was going to compete in a jazz-dance competition, and Sverrir designed this proposition for them for clothes to compete in. These clothes were not realised, but this was his very first dabbling with design of this sort, which he quite enjoyed. The dress concept was named Azteca. To the left is the dress, and to the right an idea for earrings that would be made of cardboard paper.
